Horry Electric has shared plans to convert to a new billing software system in the August and September editions of South Carolina Living magazine. The conversion will go into effect October 1, 2013. All account numbers will change.
“We sent letters directly to members who use resources outside of our system to pay their electric bill because they have to personally take action to notify their payment resource and give them their new account number,” says Gail Morton, supervisor of the service department for Horry Electric. “We don’t want them to forget this important step,” she says. “If they don’t notify their payment resource, their payment may take longer to process and post to their account.”
All new account numbers will be included on billing statements received by members in October. “Members who need their new account number before their statement arrives in October can visit us online at horryelectric.com or call us at 843.369.2211 after September 30 to get it,” says Morton.
A specially designed Account Lookup Tool will be made available online to members on October 1. Old account numbers are necessary in order to use the online tool. “The online tool and the option to contact us directly by phone will both be available only after September 30,” Morton stresses.
All current account numbers are valid until the end of the business day on Monday, September 30.
New account numbers will go into effect at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1.
“We’re trying to make the transition as smooth as possible for all members,” says Morton, adding that offices are scheduled to be closed on Monday, September 30, to give employees a chance to make sure everything is in place and ready for members on October 1.
