Change to Annual Meeting prize drawing should ease traffic concerns

Attendance records for the Annual Meeting of Members of  Horry Electric Cooperative are expected to be broken at the 2013 event.  Part of the  increase in attendance will be due to the move from the Convention Center in Myrtle Beach to the Convocation Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.

Horry Electric’s strong Annual Meeting attendance numbers for the past few years can be partially attributed to the Registration Gift, which has been an electric bill credit. For the 2013 event, the board of trustees of Horry Electric has decided to increase the amount from $15 to $25. Only members who register, in person, to participate in the Annual Meeting of Members between the hours of noon and 7 p.m. on May 14 are eligible to receive the Registration Gift.

An increase in the number of members participating in Annual Meeting means an increase in traffic.  Not wanting potential traffic issues to discourage members from coming to the Annual Meeting, the board of trustees removed the requirement that keeps people there until the last winning ticket is called.

Effective in 2013, members no longer have to be present at the time of the prize drawing in order to win.

Each member who registers, in person, at the meeting between the designated hours, will not only qualify for the Registration Gift, but they will also be automatically entered into the prize drawing. Winners, if they are not present, will be notified by phone the following day.
