Since 1930, October has been designated as National Cooperative Month. Celebrating it is a tradition at Horry Electric.
When 2012 was declared the International Year of the Cooperative, Horry Electric joined in the celebration.
Both of these celebrations have provided us with excellent opportunities to communicate the value of cooperatives and how we’re different from other forms of business but, at Horry Electric Cooperative, we celebrate the cooperative difference every day.
We were organized using the cooperative business model and are guided by the Seven Cooperative Principles. We are a non-profit, member-owned organization providing information and energy-related services on a fair and equitable basis. As a Touchstone Energy® Cooperative, we strive to provide high standards of service through our core values of integrity, accountability, innovation and commitment to community. Our purpose, our mission and our vision are all based on looking out for the members we serve.
In 2010, we published a series of blog posts about The Cooperative Difference, which highlight the seven guiding principles of cooperatively owned and operated businesses. The messages are worth repeating.
