Each member who is present and registers in person at the Annual Meeting between the hours of noon and 7 p.m. will get a $15 credit on their electric bill.
Complete details will be coming in the March edition of South Carolina Living magazine. “We’re working hard to complete and put the finishing touch on all the plans for the event,” says Penelope Hinson, manager of public relations, marketing and energy management for Horry Electric. “This year, we’re excited about having Danny Stanley and the Bluegrass Gentlemen performing from 2 until 4:30 p.m. and then, Brian Pittman, an Elvis Tribute Artist, will take the stage at 4:30 p.m.” The business meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
“Democratic member control is one of the seven cooperative principles,” says Howle. “Attending, registering and participating in the Annual Meeting is a great way for folks to take advantage of being a member of their electric cooperative.” Attendees at the 2012 event will be electing candidates who are also members of the cooperative to represent them on the board of trustees for a three-year term beginning April 4. The time schedule for the 2012 Annual Meeting of Members was published in the November/December edition of South Carolina Living magazine.
Together We Save is once again the theme for the big event. “Our Together We Save campaign is as appropriate today as when we launched it with our sister Touchstone Energy Cooperatives in 2010,” says Howle. “We communicate to our members throughout the year that little changes can add up to big savings, but Annual Meeting is an excellent opportunity for us to try to really drive that message home.”
