Same message, same commitment
As 2011 draws to a close and we look forward to 2012, all of us at Horry Electric are taking a hard look back and an enthusiastic look forward. We have a longstanding commitment to our members to provide information and energy related services on a fair and equitable basis. That commitment remains our primary focus as we close out the books on 2011 and begin a new year.
A better world
The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2012 as the International Year of Cooperatives, highlighting the contribution of cooperatives. With the theme of “Cooperative Enterprises Build a Better World,” the goal of the yearlong celebration is to encourage the growth and establishment of cooperatives all over the world.
The benefits that cooperative businesses create have long been recognized and their role in our society has been confirmed year after year. Today, cooperative businesses are an irreplaceable part of our economy.
National alliance spreads word
Horry Electric Cooperative is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative. Touchstone Energy is a national alliance of local, consumer-owned electric cooperatives providing high standards of service to customers (members), large and small.
In addition to the Seven Cooperative Principles that guide all cooperative businesses, we hold four basic values in common with our sister electric cooperatives that are also a part of the program. Those values include integrity, accountability, innovation and a commitment to community.
In every aspect of the way we do business, we are dedicated to serving commercial, industrial, agricultural and residential members with those values and the Seven Cooperative Principles clearly in focus. Through our association with Touchstone Energy, cooperatives like Horry Electric are proactively getting out the message we are unique and we are the best hope for our members and our communities.
It’s all about you
Created for members, by members in 1940, Horry Electric’s priorities and focus are clear and uncomplicated. We exist to meet the needs of our members. Your best interest is at the heart of all decisions made.
On behalf of the trustees who represent you and the employees and management team who carry out the day-to-day operations, all of us at Horry Electric wish the happiest of holiday seasons. Because this edition of South Carolina Living Magazine is for November and December, that covers the celebrations from Thanksgiving all the way through to the New Year. We appreciate the support you show your cooperative and look forward to serving you in 2012.
