For the fourth year in a row, Loris Healthcare System and Horry Electric’s Women Involved in Rural Electrification(WIRE) Chapter are teaming up to offer a Health/Wellness Fair as part of the activities members can enjoy at the Annual Meeting of Members of Horry Electric Cooperative. “The Health/Wellness Fair will run from 3 p.m. until 6:45 p.m.,” says Susan Brown, coördinator of Horry Electric’s WIRE chapter.
The Annual Meeting of Members is scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. “Registration and voting for members begins at noon and ends at 7 p.m.,” says Brown. “In addition to the Health/Wellness Fair, we’ll have several educational exhibits and live entertainment to keep members busy until the business meeting begins at 7 p.m.”. Members are encouraged to look for details in this month’s edition of Current Word, which was inserted in bills and to be on the lookout for an early mailing of the April edition of South Carolina Living magazine.
WIRE is a statewide community service organization established in 1981 through The Electric Cooperaives of South Carolina, Inc. The group was created as a nonprofit organization to foster interest in and understanding of the rural electric program and to improve the quality of life in rural areas. The efforts of WIRE members go beyond scholarships and fundraising to touch the lives of many people across the Palmetto State.
“Partnering with Loris Healthcare System to provide a Health/Wellness Fair for our members at Annual Meeting has become an annual project for WIRE and it has definitely helped us bring more participants to the event,” says Brown.
Always free to members of the cooperative, the Health/Wellness Fair will feature:
Seacoast Medical Center
Little River Medical Center – Blood Pressures/Fingerstick Cholesterols
Mercy Care – Blood Pressures
Smoke Free Horry
