Mark your calendar!

The employees and trustees of your electric cooperative are looking forward to the Annual Meeting. We're fine-tuning our plan for what we hope is a fun and very informative experience for everyone. It's just a few weeks away and we sincerely hope to see YOU there!

Annual meeting set for April 12

James P. “Pat” Howle, Executive Vice President and CEO

Mark your calendars, call your friends and make plans now to attend the Annual Meeting of Members of Horry Electric Cooperative on Tuesday, April 12, at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

 We need you there
Horry Electric’s bylaws require a quorum – equal to 5 percent of the membership – in order to conduct an official business meeting. With the preliminary estimate of 51,851 members of Horry Electric on Annual Meeting Day, that means we’ll need to have a minimum of 2,593 members register.  If we fail to meet that number, then we won’t be able to do business.

Once again, we’re pulling out all the stops to try to encourage members to attend their Annual Meeting. Loris Healthcare System and Horry Electric’s WIRE chapter is sponsoring the Health/Wellness Fair, which is scheduled from 3 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. Live entertainment begins at 2 p.m. with Carl Brunson on the keyboard until 4 p.m. then Carolina Sonshine on stage from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Complete details coming

The April edition of South Carolina Living will include all the details members will need to prepare for the Annual Meeting of Members. At about the same time you receive it, you’ll need to watch for postal delivery of your official registration post card.

Please remember that only members who register, in person, to participate in the Annual Meeting of Members between the hours of noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, are eligible to receive a registration gift, which is a $15 electric bill credit.

Be sure to put your official registration post card in a safe place. You need it, plus some form of photo identification and a bit of patience when you come to register at the meeting. The registration lines can be long, but the process goes a lot faster and runs much more smoothly when you have your post card and identification ready when you get to the front of the line.

Parking is FREE

We don’t want the $3 parking fee charged by the Myrtle Beach Convention Center to discourage anyone from coming to the business meeting of their cooperative. Rest assured, you will not be asked to pay for parking at the 2011 Annual Meeting of Members of Horry Electric Cooperative. Together with our friends at the Convention Center, we have it covered.
