This program is part of a series of studies designed to make co-op homes across the state more energy-efficient; reducing how much fossil fuel is used to generate electricity and postponing the need to build new power plants.
A limited number of manufactured homes will be selected to receive insulating foam and either a metal roof or commercial grade membrane installation over the existing roof. Data on the home’s energy use will be collected before and after the upgrade.
The energy efficiency research program is funded by the S.C. Energy Office and Central Electric Power Cooperative, Horry Electric’s wholesale power provider.
